Elizabeth E. Carter Bennett, 89, of Deer Park, TX was born on June 15, 1930 and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. Elizabeth was born in Coleman, TX and was the eldest of three children born to Richard and Era Owen Carter.
She was a graduate of Pasadena High School and went on to attend University of Houston and Lee College. After earning her Master’s degree, she began her career in Business Finance.
Elizabeth was married to John Bennett Jr. on August 5, 1950 at Memorial Baptist Church in Pasadena. She retired in 1987, after over 20 years of service with Lee College. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, fishing, sewing, and playing cards. She had an interest in genealogy and loved listening to gospel songs and making pancakes for her grandchildren.
Elizabeth was a member of First Baptist Church in Crosby and Deer Park 1st Baptist. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and was very involved with her church. Among her greatest joys in life was her acceptance of Jesus as her personal savior and the birth of her daughter, Melinda, in 1958.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her father, Richard Carter; mother, Era Owen Carter; husband, John Bennett Jr.; and sister, Janet Carter Eaton.
She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Eason; son-in-law, Dennis Eason; sister, Maxine Orr; brother-in-law, Paul Eaton; grandsons, Eric Isbell (Kori), Richard Eason (Danielle); granddaughters, Connie Dove (Eric), Donna Holveck (Dale), Wendy McNichols (Steve),Tammy Eason; 23 great grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
