Elwood "Al" Olson

Elwood A. “Al” Olson, 90, of Pasadena, TX was born February 23, 1924, in Worcester, MA and passed away September 8, 2014. He was a faithful long-time member of First Baptist Church, Pasadena and retired from Exxon in 1976. Al owned Olson Sign Service for fifty-five years, first in Katy and then La Porte and retired again in 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alice Olson, his first wife Mona Lee Olson, son Bob Young, and sister, Phyllis Kelliher and her husband Bob. He is survived by his loving wife Jane Kelly-Olson, daughter, Karen Copeland and husband Ron of Pasadena, son, Tom Olson of Houston, step-daughter, Vicki Owen and husband Paul of Houston, step-sons, Edwin Kelly of Houston and Patrick Kelly of Austin; grandchildren Laura Mills and husband Ben of Friendswood; Steven Copeland and wife Dr. Suzanne Copeland of San Antonio; three great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Larson and husband Bob of Holden, MA; brothers, Ken Olson and Carolyn Graham of Kennebunk, ME; Lloyd Olson and wife Susan of Worcester, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Grandview Funeral Home, Pasadena, Thursday, September 11, 2014, 5:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Pasadena, Friday, September 12, 2014, 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Pasadena Building Fund.
