Frank lived his whole life in the Pasadena area and made many friends wherever he went. Frank was preceded in death by his loving parents, Joaquin and Sara Leal and his sister Connie. Left to mourn this great loss is his beautiful wife, Diana Leal; sons, Frank Leal, Jr. and Daniel Cruz; daughters, Irene (Leo) Salinas, Lydia (Adam) Seabin, and Esther Cruz; granddaughter Hayley, and two on the way, his loving brothers and sister as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Frank always loved to cook for others and was able to achieve his degree in Culinary Arts from HCC. He was proud to cater for movie sets and even the broadcasters of the ‘96 Summer Olympics and 2002 Winter Olympics. As a consultant, he helped open many restaurants like Ruggles at Enron Field, Tascas, Irma’s Southwest Grill and Texans Sports Bar just to name a few. He loved to cook you breakfast even if you weren’t hungry. You couldn’t have a special occasion without his beer can chicken, brisket, famous jambalaya, and fall-off-the-bone ribs. Frank used to say, “ You know why they call me Chef O’Frank? Because every time after they eat my food, they say Oh, Frank!”
Frank loved his entire family and friends and had special nicknames for everyone. He was easy to talk to and was always there to listen. He spoke fondly of his parents and, although we miss him here on earth, we know he’s up in Heaven with his mom and dad and cooking for all of his new friends in that cookout in the sky.
The family will recieve friends on Friday, August 23, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. with a service to begin at 3:00 p.m. in The Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home. Online memorial tributes may be placed at www.grandviewfunerals.com
