

Frankie was born on February 4, 1928 in Buffalo Gap, TX to her parents George and Jessie McFarland. She married Boyd Irving Cook on April 2, 1948. The Cooks lived in Jacksonville, TX where Boyd worked as a postman and Frankie cared for their twin daughters, Glynda Lou and Lynda Sue. The family moved to Pasadena in 1957. Long after Boyd’s passing in 1970, Frankie married her loving companion, Leon Collins, on April 9, 1994.
Her large extended family of many siblings, cousins and close friends was the center of Frankie’s life. Whether it was baking her amazing meringue pies for holiday family gatherings or traveling to reunions in Lookout Valley in Jacksonville, she was always finding ways to show her love for her family and friends.
Frankie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Glynda and Oscar Travis of Houston; her daughter, Lynda Cook of Pasadena; her grandchildren, Kim Thaman and husband Kevin of Missouri City and Brent Travis and wife April of Cypress; her brother, Denny Ray Cook of California; sisters Lou Wetzel of Santa Fe and Lennie Faye Grover of Lufkin; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Boyd Cook; her brother, Buddy McFarland; her sisters Faye Dearmond and Doris Reynolds; and her second husband Leon Collins.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel at Grand View Funeral Home at 10am on Friday, July 24th. A graveside service will immediately follow.
Pallbearers will be Brent Travis, David Turner, Ken Dearmond, Kevin Thaman, Marcelino Zuniga and Mike Wetzel. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer is William Charles Dearmond.
Visitation for family and friends will take place at the funeral home at 8501 Spencer Highway in Pasadena from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, July 23rd.
