Gary was born in Baytown, Texas on August 31, 1955. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1974. He loved working on cars in high school and was a mechanic for many years until they became too "computerized". He then started his own business, La Rue Construction as he enjoyed building things with his hands. He later drove a truck over the road for a couple of years before retiring. He was a member of the Animal House Kookers cooking team for many years.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Jean La Rue in 2017, and his father, Morris La Rue in 2021. He is survived by his sisters, Rhonda Doerr of Spring, Texas and Karan Kowis of Splendora, Texas; nieces Christina Hernandez and Lydia Kowis; nephew, Jeremy Kowis.
Gary will be buried with his parents in Evergreen Cemetery in Lovelady, Texas.
Gary's family would like those who knew him to join them at a 'Celebration of Life', as they reflect back on his life, at Mamarita's Mexican Restaurant on Spencer Hwy in Pasadena on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 1:30 pm.
