Herschel Voyde Powell, loving husband and wonderful father, passed away in Pasadena, Texas on September 14, 2014 at the age of 78. He was born on April 15, 1936 in Shelbyville, Texas to Herman Hillard Powell and Evie Dora Creech Powell. Herschel retired from Champion Papers after 37 years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church Pasadena. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bernice Powell; son, Dennis Michael Powell; daughter, Karen Sue Powell; brothers, Milton Powell and his wife Chris; Edward Powell and his wife Linda; sister Iva Grant and her husband Don; sister-in-law, Gloria Mitchell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Pasadena 7500 W. Fairmont Pkwy. Pasadena, TX 77505 on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
