James Morris King of Pasadena was born on 8/31/1947 in Rusk, TX after seven sisters then followed by two more brothers to James Audie King and Mildred Maureen Beasley King. All proceeding him in death. He would always comment, “I will be next.” James passed away after a series of attempts to give his tiring body a chance to rest and strengthen his heart, his lungs, his blood vessels and his kidneys were just too weak. At which time, God said “Come on home and rest my child. On April 28, 2022, at 74 yrs. of age.
James was not afraid to tell people that his family was “cotton picking” sharecroppers” He loved to tell stories of while his daddy was a foreman on a ranch of thousands of cattle’s and acres of hay to be mowed and baled. That maybe where he got his love of tractors. Tractors. They were nomadic. They moved wherever there was work.
James received most of his education through the Deer Park ISD System where he received his GED. He was proud to serve his country in The U.S. Army during the Vietnam campaign from November 1966- November 1969 where he was an auto/helicopter mechanic, multi-passenger vehicle driver and a door gunner in a special project M.A.S.H type unit
James had a quiet sense of humor with patience to fish all day without even a bite on the hook. Softball was another love in his life with trophies to prove it. James loved cars, both old and new. He often talked of his 70’s Roadrunner or his 2003 Harley Davidson Pickup, or the 2012 Challenger that he was able to buy brand new off the showroom floor.
There was another “mistress” that Kay had to deal with and that was James love for motorcycles. He was so excited to get his first actual Harley, that he named it “Black Bart” with the loudest fish-tail pipes possible. Then he and Charlie kitchens went shopping for bike wax and James came home with a pearl white ultra-classic which eventually led to a Red Tri-Glide. How appropriate for someone who looks like Santa! Many miles and many days have been spent and these three motorcycles with Kay and some very dear friends through all kinds of weather. For Valentines 2021, his wife and son surprised James with a 1963 Mustang Stallion motorcycle. This was something he only dreamed of having as a teenager. He never actually got to ride it though. James was an active member of the H.O.G and Hou-Tex Chapter.
With all this recreation, James did not leave God out. His trade which provided for his family was also utilized to build and remodel both Creek Mont Baptist Church of LaPorte and Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Baytown. The cross that he created is still hanging over the baptistery at Creek Mont. He may not teach his class or pray in public speaking, but he could sling a hammer, park the cars and build a booth or usher and crowd. He showed true sportsmanship on the ball field in the church leagues win or lose.

He is survived and will be truly missed by his wife of over 48 years, Cecilia Kay Blaine King who married him on his birthday so would never forget an anniversary.
