Jennie C. Blankenship, 83, of La Porte, Tx entered eternal peace after a long struggle with multiple health issues. She passed peacefully in her sleep on April 25, 2017 at the San Jacinto Manor in Deer Park, Tx.
Born on October 10, 1933, she was the middle daughter of Christy and Jennie Baumann of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Henry B. Blankenship, Sr, son Henry B. Blankenship, Jr. both of Pasadena, Tx and her older sister, Jane Ellen Brandon of Mississippi. She is survived by her brother Christy (Bobbie) Baumann of Houston, Tx, , daughter Deborah (Douglas “Hippy”) Hathorn of La Porte, Tx., daughter Cynthia Woodworth of Houston, Tx., grandson Chad M.(Rachael) Woodworth of Baytown, Tx., great-grandchildren Haley, Chelsey, and Cody as well as many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Jennie graduated from Milby High School, Houston, Tx and went on to marry and begin a family as a dedicated and full time mother. As the children grew she began work at Deer Park ISD in the commissary which permitted her to be home before and after school with the children.
Later, she spent 18 years at Continental Airlines catering division and went on to become a trainer often awarded for her work performance and dependable work schedule.
Jennie cherished time with her grandchildren, enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, genealogy and spending time with her furbaby, Libby. She was somewhat quiet and did not cherish the idea of large crowds, being more of a people watcher. Wishing to stay connected and up to date on current events, she sought out new technology opportunities in order to social network and game online.
Her presence we will miss, her memory we will always treasure; loving her forever.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the wonderful and careful attention provided by the nursing staff of San Jacinto Manor of Deer Park, Tx., as well as her hospice team at Hallmark Hospice of Houston, Texas.
