Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Joanne Louise Carpenter, was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2024, at the age of 71, at her home in LaPorte, Texas. Joanne was the ultimate gift to all who knew her, and she entered the gates of heaven on Christmas Day, surrounded by love.
Born on May 26, 1953, in Pasadena, Texas, at Bayshore Hospital, Joanne was the youngest of four children born to the late Leslie and Mary Lou Switzer. She was a proud graduate of Deer Park High School, where she was a member of the high school marching band as a talented twirler.
On May 28, 1983, Joanne married the love of her life, Brad Carpenter, and the two shared a blessed marriage of 41 years. Together, they created a home full of love, laughter, and devotion.
Joanne’s interests and talents were many. She enjoyed competing in her local bowling league, cooking and sewing for her family, and coloring. She loved spending time on boat rides and traveling with her family. Joanne was also deeply involved in her children’s lives, serving as a baker in the school cafeteria while they were growing up. Later, she worked as a substitute teacher, but her most cherished role was as a stay-at-home mom. When her children were grown, she continued her professional journey, working for the City of Pasadena, where she served as an administrative assistant to the city manager and later as the secretary in the Emergency Management department.
Joanne was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Deer Park, Texas. She loved attending Bible studies and was a true servant of God, always seeking to help others. Her deep faith was reflected in her heart of gold and her commitment to living a life of kindness and generosity. Joanne had a passion for Christian music, and it brought her great comfort and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Les and Mary Lou Switzer. Joanne’s memory will be cherished forever by her loving husband, Brad Carpenter; her siblings, Bernie Switzer, Mike Switzer and wife Sandie, and Carolyn Caudle; her three daughters, Jody Isom, Tanya Weaver and husband Brad, and Melissa Sweezy and husband Ryan; and her grandchildren, Ryan Weaver, Cameron Weaver, Jared Isom, Madison Bolejack and husband Braden, Drake Sweezy and Luke Sweezy.
Joanne will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in our hearts forever. May we carry forward her legacy of love, faith, and selflessness.
