

John H. Townshend 91, a resident of Pasadena, Texas, passed away on July 7th, 2024. He was born on March 15th, 1933, in the Panama Canal Zone, USA, to Charles Stewart and Margaret Townshend. John spent his early years in the Canal Zone, where his father piloted ships, including vessels carrying notable figures such as Queen Elizabeth and the USS Battleship Missouri.
After completing his education in the Canal Zone, John moved to the US mainland. He served in the U.S. Army and Navy reserves before joining the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 4 years. John enjoyed a distinguished career, working as a Field Service Representative for IBM for 30 years and later at Kodak for 5 years.
John was a devoted member of Sunset United Methodist Church and had a passion for automotive work, reflecting his love for cars. He was married to Mary H. Townshend for 39 years and is survived by his wife, Mary, and their three children: Jeffrey Townshend of Odessa, TX; Lori Townshend of Pasadena, TX; and Randal Townshend of Ada, Oklahoma, with his spouse Christi Townshend. He is also survived by his grandson, Jason Kocian, of Pearland, TX, with his spouse Lauren Kocian, and three great-grandsons: Wyatt, Logan, and Miles Kocian.
John was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. He will be remembered fondly for his dedication to family, his military and professional service, and his commitment to his community and church.
