Julie J. Blanchard, known affectionately as Judie, passed away peacefully at her home on March 7, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born on October 24, 1937, in Houston, TX, to the late Joe and Annie Kuzell. Judie had four sisters: Stella, Margie, Ruth, and JoAnn, with Margie Curtis being her surviving sister.
In November 1956, Judie married John Nelson Blanchard, with whom she enjoyed 52 years of marriage until his passing on October 27, 2008, in Pasadena, TX. Judie is survived by her children, Nelson K. Blanchard and his wife Brenda, Mark Blanchard, and Mignone Bishop and her husband David. She also leaves behind five grandchildren—Scott, Stacey, Shelbi, Kaitlyn, and Chelsea—six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends of her children.
Judie was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and a person of deep faith. Her cheerful personality and kind heart brought smiles to everyone who knew her. She had a natural talent for growing plants, a gift handed down from her mother, Annie Kuzell, affectionately known as “Mom.” Judie retired from the DPS as a "kind" License and Permit Specialist, where she evaluated many in their driving skills test. She was also known for her delicious desserts, especially her dewberry cobbler, pralines, and fudge. Judie loved music and travel.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 13, at Grand View Funeral Home and Memorial Park/Bethany Cemetery, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX, 77505.
