Lawrence Gaubert Ermay

Lawrence Gaubert Ermay, 79, of La Porte, Texas, entered the arms of Jesus on Monday, November 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 16, 1945, in Saint Lucia to the late Hermance Ermay, Lawrence later moved to the United States, where he met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Hooper, in 1987.

Lawrence built a dedicated career as an I&E technician in the oil and gas industry. After his retirement, he embraced a new venture, opening and personally running a tire shop for over twenty-five years. Lawrence’s warmth and friendliness made his shop a neighborhood fixture, where customers became friends.

Known for his love of fishing, BBQing, and gardening, Lawrence enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, whether it was tending to his garden, sharing a story on the back porch, or welcoming friends and family into his home. Yet, above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, whose lives he cherished deeply and of whom he was endlessly proud.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn, of thirty-seven years, and his mother. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through his children: Patron Washington and wife Nicole, Kimmy Washington and wife Kristi, Eric Washington and wife Gena, Cassandra Manning, Kimya Allen and husband Wendell, and Ottis Merritt and wife Ashley; his nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of dear friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Donte’ Washington, Izaah Washington, Johnny McCovery, Eric Washington, Jr., Kevin Fowler, Jr., and Chris Patterson.

Lawrence’s presence, warmth, and unwavering love will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

A visitation for Lawrence will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at External Service Location, 224 N 7th St, La Porte, TX 77571. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Grand View Memorial Park, 8516 Spencer Hwy, Deer Park, TX 77536. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, 224 N 7th St, La Porte, TX 77571.
