Magdalen “Maggie” Schramm Kainer went to be with the Lord on May 18, 2021. She was born in Ammannsville, Texas on January 3, 1928 to August and Justina Schramm. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, grandsons Jason and Clay Roberts, sister Agnes McClosky and brother Allen Schramm. She is survived by her children: David and wife Lillian, Gloria Roberts, Ronnie and wife Kristi, Donald and wife Pam, Dennis and wife Misty, Lisa Hermis and husband Fred; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter due in July.
Maggie spent her life on the farm until she married the love of her life, Joe, on October 6, 1947. They moved to Houston to make a better life for themselves. They helped establish St. Augustine Catholic Church and became devout members. Maggie was a member of the Women’s Guild and she helped with numerous bazaars. After raising their six children, Maggie began working in the Food Service Department at Dobie High School, where she served many students per day that enjoyed her fun and laughter. Maggie lit up the room everywhere she went. It didn’t matter where she was, she engaged strangers, because she loved talking to everyone. She found joy in making people laugh and loved to hear their stories. You could always find Maggie in the kitchen on Saturday mornings baking one of her favorite desserts. Her infectious smile will be missed.
