7 years has passed, and I still can't watch a cowboys game without you coming into my thoughts. You'd be proud of your boys lately, I know you always said you couldnt picture a romoless team, but here they are. I know you're watching them from above.

Was thinking of Mike on his recent birthday and now that Christmas is upon us. Again, what a wonderful man this great big teddy bear was. He touched everyone he met with a smile, and they couldn't help but to smile back.

May God be with the family, bringing you peace and comfort through the holidays and other difficult times.

I have not lived in the Pasadena area for a long time and have lost touch with many of my childhood friends. I just now learned of Mikes passing. I have many wonderful memories of my Jackson Jr. High and P.H.S. days. The days Mike and I would play basketball in front of the garage beside his house off Thomas street are some of them. He always had that "Mike smile and laugh". Usually, I would see and hear it after he soundly beat me in each game. Mike, buddy from what I have read , you blessed family
and friends with that smile and laugh
all through your life. I,m sure heaven
is even brighter now that your there.

I, like everyone, was shocked at the news of Mikes unexpected passing. I haven't seen Mike in years but my memories come from almost daily interactions in high school and times thereafter. Although years have passed since our last interaction its the memories generated by quality life experiences.  Mine are quality with Mike and for that I'm appreciative.  Mike... God speed and peace on the other side.

Uncle Mike Im just thinking of you heard your songs today reminded me so much of you...Every time I start to get sad I end up smiling. You always knew how to light up the room, and make anyone be in a great mood. You never showed anything but Happiness. I miss you I know your watching over the Family and your boys and Mackenzie.

Big Mike was a great man with a BIG heart!! I will never forget when we moved to Texas my daddy( Carl Owens) told us that he had called the biggest man he could find to help us!! And in walked Big Mike!! I was 12 years old at the time. He would do anything for anybody!! He had a great heart and there was never a moment when he was around that we werent all laughing. You will truely be missed. Love you Big Mike

I really wish I could have known Mike. I’m sorry that I didn’t have the pleasure. I started out by just following the story, then his obituary, and then the pictures in his memorial (I hope that you forgive my intrusion). His pictures made me laugh and they made me cry, but more importantly, I was touched by the gentle man that had a knack for making people smile.  He clearly made a strong presence and made a difference in so many lives. 

I want to offer my sincerest condolences to his wife, his children, his family, and of course, his friends. It is truly tragic that you lost this dear man. I know that God will bring you peace in the days ahead that you face. Bless you all. You will be in my prayers.

My deepest sympathy goes out the the Hansen family at this time of loss. Big Mike was a good friend and we will miss him dearly, but our memories and laughs that he gave us will live on.

Uncle Mike, I'm still having trouble believing you're really gone. But maybe that's because you're not really gone you are up there with the angels smiling down on us. That game sunday proved it, I knew you'd be out there on the field with them. We all love and miss you more and more with each day. We all know we will see you again though, so it makes it a lot easier to know that you are happy up there. Lord take care of him for us. To all the people whom Mike touched in one way or another thank you so much for being a part of his life and making him who he was. Mike was a Good Man and Father.  We loved him as an AWESOME Friend.  Carl and I have some good memories of our own with Mike and that is what we are focusing on. We smile everytime we think of him. A big Teddy Bear.

Carl & Mike worked together at KBR.  Mike was the only one to help us unload the truck when we moved to Texas in 1990.  He picked up the clothes dryer in his arms and carried in down the truck ramp.  Our kids just stared at him in awe.  If you knew Mike you loved him and we did.
Remember the good times.  Those memories will help you to heal and try to talk about them too. 
He will be forever in our hearts.
