Jan. 28, 1968 – May 2, 2015
Michael was a graduate of Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena, TX and San Jacinto College. Upon graduation from San Jacinto College he began his career as a licensed surgical technician at Methodist Hospital in Houston. He worked in the medical field for many years but became ill and was forced to retire. After he recovered, he began studying for his second career as a licensed psychologist. At the time of his passing he was attending Houston Community College and looking forward to attending The University of Houston in the fall. Michael was to be inducted into the National Leadership Society on May 13, 2015.
When Mike wasn’t studying or volunteering with the Montrose Senior Citizen Center he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog Checkers. Mike loved old movies, the older the better, and he would watch his favorites over and over. He was like a walking encyclopedia of movie trivia and knew who all of the old movie stars were and odd facts about their lives and movies they had made. Like his Father and younger brother, Mike loved technical gadgets and would spend hours trying to decide which new gadget was the best. He was also a news junky. If you wanted to know what was happening in the world you could just call him and get an update.
Mike touched many lives and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. We will all miss his smile and the way he truly cared about people. There will be no more picking up the phone and calling him for free medical advice or asking him the question you didn’t want to ask at the doctor’s office. No more calling and asking what went on in the world today. No more hilarious stories of what sometimes goes on in an operating room. Mike helped save many lives in his job as a surgical technician. And maybe saved a few more by listening and being there for someone in their time of need. At the end of the day we are all better for having been touched by him.
Michael is survived by his Mother Nell and Step-Father Pete Garcia. His sister Beth Reynolds and his brothers Kenneth Reynolds and James Reynolds and his wife, Terica. His nieces and nephews Brandi, Sidney, Marissa, Arron and Allan. He was preceded in death by his Father Eldridge Reynolds.
