

Shirley Jane Martin, age 86, passed away due to complications from COVID. She was a loving Mother, Nannie, and Great-Nannie. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 18, 2022, with her daughters by her side.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 59 1/2 years Raymond Hubert Martin in 2014. She is survived by her children, Becky Moon and husband, Lloyd, Randall Martin and wife Mari, and Beverly Martin; by her grandchildren Amanda Moon Conrad, Ashley Truckey and husband Josh, Allison Moon, Ryan Martin and wife D'Onna and Courtney Zondor; by her great grandchildren Haelee Conrad, Savannah Conrad, R.J. Zonder, Rylinn Martin, Lylah Zondor, Zachary Brown, Kody Carley, Levi Truckey, Aiden Truckey, and also by her two special nephews Bill Nelson and wife Judy, and Stephen Nelson.
Shirley was a very active member of South Avenue Baptist Church of Pasadena for over 58 years, where she taught Sunday School to 4th and 5th graders along beside her husband for many years. She also served until recently as the Nursery Coordinator, General Sunday School Secretary, and the offertory committee coordinator.
She loved to work in the yard tending to her flowers especially in the spring, to make crafts, work crossword puzzles, read all kinds of books, cook and to play Hand and Foot and Friday nights with her daughter Beverly and her two good buddies from SABC, Avis English and Linda Smith.
Shirley retired from DPISD after working in food service for 28 years. She started her career in 1965 at San Jacinto Elementary then transferred to Parkwood Elementary and ended her career and retired from Deer Park High School - South Campus. She loved the ladies that she worked with and all the kids that came through her line at school.
To our wonderful Hospice Plus Team, Ashley, C.J., Mrs. Pat, Katy and Emily, Our family is grateful for your loving care, kindness and concern for and to our mom. Your attention and anticipation of Mom's needs greatly assisted her peaceful transition and gave comfort to all of us. We can't thank you enough for all you did for our Mother.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at South Avenue Baptist Church of Pasadena, 605 Preston Avenue, Pasadena, TX 77503, and an interment will follow at La Porte Cemetery in La Porte, TX.
