Timothy Jeffery Galvez, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend too many, passed away on July 1, 2024, at Harbor Hospice in Houston, Texas. He was born on August 21, 1979, in Jacksonville, North Carolina to Oreca Heuser and Daniel Galvez. Tim’s memory and legacy will forever be cherished and carried on by his loving and devoted wife, Shannon Leigh Galvez, his sons, Austin Samuel, Vincent Arthur and Liam Michael, and his baby girl, Nova Leigh Galvez, as well as his siblings, Daniel Galvez, Jr., Sarah Galvez, Becky Galvez, and Curtis Galvez, and his honorary brother and family, Dane, Skye and Alayna Welsh, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Raised in various states including Texas, North Carolina, Hawaii and Wisconsin, Tim graduated from Stanley Boyd High School in May of 1998 and went on to study English Literature at St. Mary’s University. While there, his religious guidance counselor told him that his life would be best served by finding a good woman and raising a family of his own, which Tim took to heart.
This realization led Tim to the Louisiana oil fields where he spent a majority of his 20’s working offshore and gaining many valuable life lessons along the way. Eventually he returned to Texas in the early 2000’s and joined the local 211 Pipe Fitters Union to acquire his Commercial HVAC Technician license, where he spent the following 13 years working hard and building a name for himself as one of the best, and most hard working HVAC Techs around. During his time with the union, he met Dane Welsh, who would very quickly become his best friend and the brother that he always wanted. Dane’s beautiful wife, Skye, and darling daughter, Alayna, quickly became the family that Tim “chose,” as he always said, and they welcomed him with open arms.
In mid 2020, during the height of the COVID pandemic, Tim met the woman who would forever change the trajectory of his life. Shannon Leigh Ewing (Galvez). Shannon and her 3 sons moved into the house across the street from Tim in Santa Fe, TX, and within a month, and after Tim graciously offered Shannon an Ol’ Smokey barbecue, the 2 of them were inseparable. Their bond and commonalities were apparent to anyone who crossed paths with them, and in the words of Shannon’s mother, whenever you were around Tim and Shannon, they looked at each other like they had both won the lottery when they met. And they truly had.
Tim enjoyed being outdoors more than indoors, so anything that he could find to occupy his time outside was where his interests lied. He loved to fish and spent many hours teaching their 3 sons how to fish right alongside him. Tim and Shannon purchased a few classic cars for the purpose of restoration, and while he was healthy enough to work on them, he took to the work like a duck to water! Anything Tim put his hands on turned into something AMAZING, and no one could cook like him!! He spent hours at the pit, smoking up all sorts of good stuff, so much so that his wife said his beard always smelled of Post Oak wood. He took great pride in him and his wife’s 5-acre property in Santa Fe, where they built their dream life, and where they welcomed home their baby girl, Nova Leigh Galvez, in December of 2021.
Shortly after Nova’s birth, Tim and Shannon took a giant leap and “retired” from their respective careers in construction to own and operate their own Mosquito Shield franchise. While the business operated, it quickly became the highest grossing franchise in the Southern States in a matter of 18 months, in large part due to Tim’s ability to sell ice to an Eskimo! Unfortunately, in late June of 2023, Tim received a cancer diagnosis, and even though he fought bravely like the warrior that he was, he succumbed to the disease a year later.
From the very beginning, Tim spent his life fighting, and his family and friends are positive that he is now seated high within the clouds, and watching over his loved ones until they are all reunited again.
In remembrance of Tim, a Celebration of Life will be held at Grand View Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas on August 19, 2024, from 2pm to 4pm. All who loved and miss Tim are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please direct all condolences to Tim’s wife, Shannon Galvez.
