To know Wendel was to know three things. That he believed in paying it forward, he truly, sincerely believed in human kindness and he loved his family immeasurably. 
He said that his ability to help others was based on his receiving help when himself in need. I know he made his mentors proud. 
He left a legacy for you to be very proud of.

When I think of my grandfather I feel a spirit in my heart that fills me with so much joy.  He was a man of truth, a man of great integrity, a man of faith, and a man of GREAT JOY.  No matter what life threw at me I always knew I had his support and that he would always be there for me.  AND HE WAS!  When I think back on his life, so many great memories come to mind.  Starting out riding four-wheelers on H street and playing in the hay, then fishing at the island, then the bay house, and of course our wonderful memories at the Ranch.  Yes, all those are great, but there is one set of memories that will forever stand out in my mind and that is the LOVE we shared for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  The night that I came to know the Lord I couldn’t wait to get out of church to call and tell my grandfather.  When I called and told him that I’d been Saved, he was filled with so much Joy and said, “Tutt, I’ve been praying for you!”   From that day forward every time a heard a great sermon or read something that really spoke to my heart from the Good Book, I had to call and share it with him; and he would do the same.  We had so many wonderful phone calls like this sharing what God had put on our hearts and for that I will always be grateful.  He once told me, “Tutt, I get so frustrated that I can’t remember what I read anymore.” I told him, “It’s not what you remember in your mind, it’s what you remember in your heart!”  There is no doubt in my mind that his heart was filled with Love for Jesus and I aspire to have a similar heart like that one day.

Papa it kills me to say goodbye, but I know it’s something that I must do.  You always told me that dying was just like walking through a door.  To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.  Although I grieve for myself and our family, I find GREAT JOY in knowing you have walked through that door.  I know it’s wonderful up there and I know you are happy, so until we meet again, I will KEEP LOOKINIG UP!  I LOVE YOU!

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, you will all be in my prayers during this difficult time.  I'm thankful to have had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Weaver.  I remember him always having the biggest smile and having of way of spreading joy every time I saw him!  He was a great man and one I know will be deeply missed!
