

William Alvin Dempsey Gill, born March 31, 1935, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 16, 2012. He lived on this earth 77 years. Working in Industrial Construction and serving as an ordained Minister, he was known by many as Bill Gill. He worked for Brown and Root and for HB Zachery. He served as Music Minister and Preacher in several Churches in the Houston and Pasadena, Texas area. Known for his voice, Bill ministered the Gospel through music and preaching. He led many friends and relatives to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Bill also served in the National Guard and US Army as a Combat Engineer.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Dempsey and Estelle Gill, his brother Gene Gill, and his sister Loreda Joslin. He is survived by his sisters Roberta Cooper, Reba Thacker, Wanda Woodson, and Linda Martin. He is also survived by his wife, Doris Gill and children: Alvin Gill, Brenda McCorkel, Donna Thompson and husband Walter, Ollie Mae Wilcox and Husband Tommy, Mary Kidder and husband Dave, and Windell Gill and wife Cindey. He loved all his 13 grandchildren: Amy, Tammy, Matthew Thompson, Angie Johnson and husband Robby, Stephen Thompson and wife Shelly, Brian Thompson and wife Rachel, Stephanie McAtee and husband Timothy, Rachel Liberty and husband Corey, Christopher Kidder and wife Yvonne, Terese Kidder, Curtiss Gill, Tabitha Godinez and husband Carlos, and Tiffany Gill. He adored his 15 great grandchildren: Olivia, Ariel, Braven, Dallas, Madison, Meredith, Nathan, Joe, Brookelynn, Phillip, Emily, Allie Mae, Peyton, Phenix, and Riley; plus two more on the way.
He is missed by so many and welcomed by the arms our risen Lord.
He was a member of Forest Oaks Baptist Church in Houston, Texas and also a member of the American Legion.
