

Elida was born to Elida Garza Rivera and Roberto Rivera. A devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she lived a life full of love, creativity, and joy.
She is survived by her children: Raul Arnoldo Carranza, Damian Carranza (Tina), and Norma Lisa Santana (Luis); her daughter-in-law Olga Carranza; her beloved siblings: Yolanda Herrera, Elizabeth Garza (Adalberto), Alicia Herrera (Felix), Manuela "Nellie" Rivera, Ramiro Rivera, Roberto (Noemi) Rivera, Rogelio (Lois) Rivera, and Ricardo (Clariza) Rivera.
Elida was also a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Adalberto Carranza, her parents Roberto and Elida Garza Rivera, and her brother Raul Rivera.
Elida was a woman of many talents and passions. She found joy in arts and crafts, including ceramics, embroidery, cross-stitching, cake decorating, and floral arrangements. She was known for baking delicious cakes and her famous Christmas cookies. Elida loved spending time with her family and friends, going out to eat, dancing, singing, and watching movies. Before her illness, she was an active member of her church and sang in the choir—a reflection of her deep faith and love of music.
Elida will be remembered for her warm heart, creative spirit, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her love and legacy will live on through her family and all who knew her.
A visitation will take place Monday, July 28, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley located at 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, TX 78577. A chapel service will occur Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a burial at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens.
