

Horacio proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, stationed at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho from December 16, 1954, until 1958. Following his service, he dedicated many years to public service, working with the USDA from 1962 to 1976, the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service at the International Bridge in Hidalgo, Texas from 1976 to 1995, and later as a Court Security Officer for the U.S. Marshals from 2003 to 2006.
He was a man of many passions, with a love for reading, watching classic westerns, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Horacio also enjoyed traveling, savoring good meals, and caring for his home and yard. He took great pride in tending to his trees, pecan trees, and citrus trees and keeping his lawn beautifully maintained.
He is preceded in death by his parents Narciso Tijerina and Maria Cantu, son Alberto Tijerina, and granddaughter Emily Rae Flores.
Horacio is survived by his loving wife Concepcion Tijerina, children Janie (Fernando) Beltran, Horacio (Ana) Tijerina, Jr., Sandra (Manuel) Flores, grandchildren Sarah (Andrew) Schachtner, Stephanie Beltran, Fernando X. Beltran, Robert (Yesenia) Tijerina, Melissa (Cesar) Palma, Josh Tijerina, great grandchildren Silas John Schachtner, Xenia Maria Schachtner, Mateo Palma, Noah Palma, and Marcelo Palma.
Visitation will begin Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Funeraria del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr, Texas with burial to follow at 11:00 AM with Military Honors at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens.
