

Dr. James vivió una vida dedicada al trabajo, al aprendizaje constante y al servicio humanitario. Durante más de diez años fue voluntario en St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store, donde se desempeñó como gerente de tienda, sirviendo con compromiso y generosidad a su comunidad. Vivió siempre con integridad, honestidad y un profundo sentido de responsabilidad hacia los demás.
Desde joven, tuvo la firme ambición de alcanzar el más alto nivel académico. Entre sus mayores orgullos profesionales se encuentran la obtención de su doctorado (PhD) de la Universidad de Notre Dame South Bend en Indiana en el 6 de agosto del 1971, el logro de una patente de producto en Superior Essex —empresa donde trabajó por más de 37 años— y la culminación de su tesis doctoral titulada "Non-Newtonian Film Flow". A lo largo de su distinguida carrera, ocupó importantes cargos como Director de Ingeniería de United Technologies Essex y Ingeniero Jefe de Essex International, dejando una huella significativa en su campo profesional.
Más allá de sus logros académicos y laborales, James encontraba su mayor alegría en su familia. Los momentos y pequeños detalles compartidos en familia lo hacían sonreír, especialmente cuando lograba ganarle a su esposa en juegos de mesa. Sus mayores momentos de orgullo familiar fueron las graduaciones de sus hijos y sobrinos, celebraciones que atesoraba profundamente. Amó a su familia por encima de todo y deseaba ser recordado como un hombre honesto, trabajador y generoso.
Entre sus pasatiempos favoritos se encontraban el golf, el ajedrez, los rompecabezas, los juegos de mesa y los viajes. Disfrutaba la música de los años 50 y su color favorito era el azul marino.
Dr. James fue precedido en la muerte por su madre, Ann C., y su padre, James S. Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Delia; su hija, Amy M.; su hijo, James M.; y sus hermanos, Thomas “Tom” (Sharon) y Anthony “Tony” (Denise).

Dr. James Samuel Tyler was born on November 22, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and passed away on February 11, 2026, at the age of 81.
Dr. James lived a life dedicated to work, continuous learning, and humanitarian service. For over ten years, he volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store, where he served as store manager, serving his community with commitment and generosity. He always lived with integrity, honesty, and a deep sense of responsibility toward others.
From a young age, he had a strong ambition to achieve the highest academic level. Among his greatest professional achievements were earning his PhD from the University of Notre Dame South Bend in Indiana on August 6, 1971, securing a product patent at Superior Essex—a company where he worked for over 37 years—and completing his doctoral dissertation, "Non-Newtonian Film Flow." Throughout his distinguished career, he held important positions such as Director of Engineering at United Technologies Essex and Chief Engineer at Essex International, leaving a significant mark on his professional field.
Beyond his academic and professional achievements, James found his greatest joy in his family. The moments and small details shared with them brought a smile to his face, especially when he managed to beat his wife at board games. His greatest moments of family pride were the graduations of his children and nephews, celebrations he deeply cherished. He loved his family above all else and wished to be remembered as an honest, hardworking, and generous man.
Among his favorite pastimes were golf, chess, puzzles, board games, and traveling. He enjoyed the music of the 1950s, and his favorite color was navy blue.
Dr. James was preceded in death by his mother, Ann C., and his father, James S. He is survived by his beloved wife, Delia; his daughter, Amy M.; his son, James M.; and his siblings, Thomas “Tom” (Sharon) and Anthony “Tony” (Denise).
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, located at 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, TX 78577, on February 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The rosary will be recited the same day and at the same location, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like for friends and family to make a donation to the cancer association in Dr. James' name.
His legacy of perseverance, faith, and dedication will live on in all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory be eternal.
