Jessica Mendez, age 38, of Weslaco, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was a woman whose warmth, strength, and genuine spirit left an unforgettable mark on everyone blessed to know her.
Jessica loved life and she lived it loudly. A music lover through and through, she had a special place in her heart for The Little Mermaid, a connection so meaningful it even inspired her red-hair phase. She adored singing with loved ones, especially duets like “Whiskey Lullaby” by Brad Paisley. She had a huge personality and an even bigger heart, and everything she did, she did it with love and authenticity.
She was proud to be a mother and was “the ride or die” type for her children. Jessica was genuine, driven, and always pushing herself to be better, do better, and feel better. A true stationary enthusiast, she found joy in the little things like stationary, (all things pens and notebooks) and nature. She loved hiking, was always grateful, and never shied away from showing up fully for the people she loved.
Jessica proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and spent the last four years of her life continuing to impact countless lives as a Registered Nurse. Her strong work ethic and compassionate soul made her a rock and glue for many whether as a mother, daughter, sister, or friend.
Her presence lit up every room, and her love knew no bounds. She was endlessly welcoming, deeply proud, and never judged those around her. Jessica was humble, despite the incredible strength and influence she carried.
She is survived by her children Trinity Castillo, Victoria L. Espinosa, and Jordan I. Mendez; her mother Juanita M. Zamora; her father Alberto Rubalcaba; her siblings Miguel A. Rubalcaba, Alberto J. Rubalcaba and Carolina Rubalcaba; as well as dear friends Melissa Vizcaino, Mary Borrego and Jessica Meda. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Paula Gonzalez.
The Mendez family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and kind thoughts during this difficult time. They invite all who knew and loved Jessica to join them in remembering the light she brought into their lives.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 28, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home located at 26873 N. White Ranch Road La Feria, TX 78559.
Mariachi to celebrate her love of music will begin at 5:30 PM. A service by the Nurse Guard will take place at 6:30 PM. Military Honors for her Navy service at 7:30 PM, followed by the family sharing memories of Jessica’s beautiful life.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched with her love, laughter, and unwavering spirit.
