Jose Oscar Hernandez, age 74, of Edinburg, Texas entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg, Texas. Jose Oscar was born on March 29, 1946 to Soledad Hernandez and Ramiro Hernandez in Mexico.
Jose Oscar Hernandez was known as Oscar to family and friends. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Jose Oscar will be remembered as a very exceptional person. Jose Oscar worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Jose Oscar was blessed with two children, Noemi and Norberto. His pride and joy and an additional blessing for Jose Oscar was the gift of three grandchildren, Natasha, Norberto Jesus and Julian Nicolas.
Jose Oscar enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were playing bingo/loteria, dancing and watching his novelas nightly. He always enjoyed a good cup of coffee, no matter the time. Jose Oscar fought and was a survivor of cancer. In his spare time he liked to work on and rebuild small engines. In addition, Jose Oscar sponsored and was a co-leader of AA meetings in the community for over 14 years. However, to Jose Oscar, the most fun to be had was simply spending time with family where he always liked to enjoy a good meal.
Simply stated, Oscar was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Oscar leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Jose Oscar Hernandez.
Jose Oscar is survived by his wife, Silvia Hernandez; daughter Noemi Hernandez; son Norberto Hernandez (Jeanette), granddaughter Natasha Garza, grandson Norberto Jesus Hernandez and grandson Julian Nicolas Hernandez and 2 brothers- Juan Hernandez and Ventura Hernandez; 2 sisters- Beatrice Hernandez and Maria Hernandez Pena and extended family and friends.
Jose Oscar was preceded in death by his parents Ramiro and Soledad Hernandez and his brother Edelmiro Hernandez.
A visitation for Jose Oscar will be held Monday, September 7, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a funeral mass occurring Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg, Texas. Burial service is scheduled to follow on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens, Pharr, Texas.
Company regulations require that all guest wear a facial covering or mask while in the building and social distancing will be enforced.
