“Chayito” as she was affectionately known, was born in Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico on May 1, 1949 to Maria Virtudes Garcia Gonzalez and Mario Vega.
Chayo was first a devoted daughter and granddaughter. However, her most important accomplishment that brought her immense joy was being a devoted mother and grandmother. As a young person, she developed an artistic sensibility that lead to her long love of film, art and music. She enjoyed dancing and loved attending ‘’bailes” where she subsequently met her husband. She had a mischievous sense of humor and would keep those around her in constant laughter. She had a gift for storytelling and would often share many stories of her life growing up in her beloved magical town of Parras. Family and friends would gather and spend hours enthralled listening to these stories. Her hobbies included thrifting at the “pulga” and shopping endlessly at her favorite stores. She was full of life up until her medical conditions prevented her from doing the things she relished.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 48 years, Cirilo Monsivais; her children, Armando Monsivais, Miriam Virtudes Monsivais, Clara Elena Monsivais, Heli Pablo Monsivais, Cesar Alberto Monsivais; her grandchildren Adriana Garcia, Oscar Reyes, David Reyes; and great grandchild, Leo Jovan Trevino along with numerous extended family and friends.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Mario Vega and Maria Virtudes Garcia Gonzalez; her beloved grandparents Petra Gonzalez de Garcia and Pablo Garcia.
We will forever miss her. - Chacho, Chocha, Paya, Ani, Coco, Nanita, Oscarito, and David.
A celebration of life memorial services is scheduled to occur Monday, February 7, 2022 at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley in Pharr from 4pm-8pm.
