

Roberto Yzaguirre, age 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2025, surrounded by family at his home in Weslaco, Texas. Born in Brownsville, Texas, Roberto was raised by parents Francisco and Maria Agustina Yzaguirre. Roberto graduated from Brownsville High School and embarked on a career as an accountant/bookkeeper before joining AARP/SCSEP in 1970. He served as Assistant National Director of the Senior Community Service Employment Program for 41 years, retiring with a legacy of dedication and service.
Roberto is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Luby Ramon of Weslaco, TX, children; Yolanda Leger and spouse Rene Leger (†), Maria Augustina (Tina) and spouse Juan Hinojosa, Elvira (Elvi) and spouse Pablo Muniz III, Roberto (Bobby) Yzaguirre and spouse June Vieira, Roberto (Robe) Yzaguirre, Rina Yzaguirre, Marissa and spouse Herman Ybarra and Haydee and spouse Luis Gonzalez.
He is also survived by Grandchildren; Catherine and spouse Kirk Saenz, Thomas and spouse Leslie McGuinness-Monclova, Monica Orton, Linda Hinojosa, Kristina Hinojosa, Marco Castillo, Amanda and spouse Randy Tapia, Robert Yzaguirre, Erika Yzaguirre, Bobby and spouse Leeana Ybarra, Michael Ybarra, Adrian and spouse Aissa Ybarra, Marleyna Lugo, George Perez, Ozzy Rios, and Ana Rios. Great Grandchildren; Margaret and spouse Brian Hadley, Ophelia McGuinness-Monclova, Octavian McGuinness-Monclova, Carlos Parson, Eliana Orton, Lydia Orton, David Flores, LeeAnn Alaniz, Daniel Hinojosa, Alexander Tapia, Vivienne Tapia, Lanie Ybarra, Layla Ybarra, Teddy Lugo and Benji Perez + 1 on the way; and Great-Great Grandchildren; Charles Hadley, Henry Hadley and Everett Hadley. And many extended relatives and friends.
Roberto was preceded in death by his former wife, Elvira Ofelia Yzaguirre, his parents, Francisco and Maria Agustina Yzaguirre, brothers, Felipe Benavides, Pedro Yzaguirre, Francisco Yzaguirre Jr., and sisters, Josefa Munivez, Maria Guadalupe Salinas and Maria Magdalena Olivares and grandson Rolando Lugo.
Roberto’s work ethic and leadership were admired for his devotion to his staff and the elderly he served. He was an influencer, encourager, and overcomer, who lived life his way. His passions included boating, fishing, hunting, gardening, sports and spending time with family and friends. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Roberto shared wisdom and kindness, uplifting those he loved. He was a man of faith, who believed deeply in the Holy Spirit.
