
Rosario Cortez, a beacon of kindness and positivity, entered eternal rest on June 19, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born on March 11, 1950, she graced this world with 74 years of infectious joy and creativity. A devoted mother, Rosario instilled in her daughters the virtues of kindness, friendliness, and a zest for life. Her fun-loving spirit was evident in her love for crafting, cooking, and celebrating life’s moments with family and friends.
Rosario had an insatiable love for food, delighting in pina coladas and pan dulce, always keen to try new flavors. She was known for her culinary talents, particularly for her elaborate Thanksgiving feasts which prominently featured her famous stuffing. Her home was a haven of warmth and laughter, with an open door for everyone. Her sense of humor was a cornerstone of her personality, bringing smiles and laughter even in her final days. Rosario’s deep faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing strength and comfort to herself and those around her. Rosario’s professional life was marked by over 30 years of dedicated service at PSJA, where she was cherished by colleagues and students alike. Her nurturing nature and exceptional friendship made her a beloved figure to many, who maintained lifelong connections and held her in high esteem. Rosario Cortez leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and unwavering faith.
Survived with deep sorrow by her three daughters, Rachel Cortez, Adrianna Cortez, Cynthia Lee Cortez; her granddaughter, Jolie Renee Saldana; her brother, Roberto Sanchez; many more family and friends.
Rosario is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rene Cortez; her parents, Sixto and Maria De La Luz Sanchez; four siblings, Rosa Sanchez, Rebecca Chapa, Ruben Sanchez, and Raul Sanchez.
A viewing will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 5pm to 10pm with a rosary service at 7pm.
