Abbie A. Macon

Abbie Lee was born August 7, 1919 in Girard, Alabama, daughter of the late Walker F. and Erie E. Huckaby Anthony. She was a graduate of Smith’s Station High School and attended nursing school at City Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. She served as a nurse at Martin Army Hospital for 20 years. She was a member of Hillside United Methodist Church in Phenix City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Susan Elizabeth Eason; her husband, Charles E. (Bill) Talley; her daughter, Abbie Lee Talley Price; and her second husband, George S. Macon.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Hendrix, of Summerville, GA; her daughter, Barbara (Barrett) Smith of Pine Mountain; and her son, Charles E. Talley, Jr of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alan (Rhonda) Hayes, Melanie (Bob) King, Jennifer Hayes Easter, Marcy (Ron Boyter) Smith, Heather (Ralph) Powell, John (Nicole) Talley, Alice Talley Marquez, Bobby Talley (Minh), Ellis Talley, Leah Talley and Heather Saylor, nieces Jane (Ray) Cooper and Susannah Hendrix, and nephew Charles (Elizabeth) Hendrix, as well as many beloved cousins and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Striffler Hamby in Phenix City from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Family requests that masks be worn. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Columbus Hospice.

Graveside funeral service will be held at a later time for family only.
