A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. EDT, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, Alabama with Rev. Lynn McManious officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
Mr. Baker was born May 8, 1939 in Verbena, Alabama; son of the late Cleveland and Gladys Short Baker. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 39 and a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Charles Baker and Jerry Baker.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rosemarie Baker, children, Carolyn Groscost (Gary), Billy Ray Baker (Michelle), James E. Baker, Linda S. Haywood (Paul), daughter-in-law, Mary Baker, brother, Dan Baker along with 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
