Carole Anne Hudgins Wilborn, 78, of Phenix City, AL, passed away peacefully at home on November 13, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Her children, Adrian and Robyn; their partners, Amy and Samantha; and her daughter-in-law, Tanya Wilborn, were with her.
Carole was born in Portsmouth, VA, to Marjorie Elizabeth and Earl Cannon Hudgins. She spent much of her early childhood on her grandparents’ farm in Pounding Mill, VA. Later, her family moved to a farm near Bronwood, GA, where she spent her teenage years. After high school, she moved to Columbus, GA, and married her husband of 51 years, Adrian Vance Wilborn.
Growing up on a farm, Carole developed a deep love for all animals. She especially loved horses, and one of her favorite memories was getting to ride a horse in the ocean.
She was a nurturing spirit by nature, always willing to care for anyone who needed it. This nurturing spirit led her to run the child care center at Hillside United Methodist Church, where she was a member for many years, before eventually taking over Early Bird Day Care Center. Most recently, she worked as a patient liaison at Piedmont Hospital before she retired in 2021.
Carole was a spitfire, who would tell you exactly what was on her mind, but she was also a loving mother who would do anything for her children. She loved her family fiercely.
Carole loved the Lord and started every day with a cup of coffee while she read her Bible. She was most recently attending Evangel Church in Columbus, GA.
Carole is survived by her children, Michael Scott Wilborn and wife Tanya, Robyn Weaver and partner Samantha, and Adrian Vance Wilborn, Jr., and wife Amy; grandson, Adam Cole Wilborn, son of Adrian and Amy; brother, Earl Cannon Hudgins, Jr., and wife Cyndi; sister, Beth Davis; nieces, Caitlin Davis Boatright and Allie Davis Holloway; nephew, Trey Hudgins; and several great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at her home at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org.
