A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. EDT Thursday, May 23, 2024 in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, AL with Pastor Donald Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Sorrells, David Adams, Rod Harrelson and Jack Tinkler.
Cliff was born October 17, 1956 in Columbus, Georgia; son of the late William Richards, Sr. and Helen Mullin Richards. He was a 1975 graduate of Glenwood School where he was an avid basketball and football player. He was a 1979 graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. He was employed with the Phenix Citizen as Sports Editor and later served in the IT Department and retired from the W.C. Bradley Company. He was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Georgia.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Emma Downing Mullin, Al Dene Mullin, Thelma Turner Richards, Warren Richards, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Rebecca Martin Richards, daughter, Kristin Blaire Richards, grandson, Kaden Dene Richards; brother, William Richards, Jr. and wife, Kathy, mother-in-law, Shirley Browning Stanley, sister-in-law, Sheila Martin West, brothers-in-law, James Donald Martin and Michael Keith Martin. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Will, Emily, Allie, Zach, Bradley, Brooke, Taylor, Cooper, Conner, Brock, Mallory and several other nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Cliff will be remembered by his grandson, Kaden as the most amazing grandfather and dad.
