

Doris Floyd Strickland, 86 of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday June 2, 2012 at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL with Rev. Grady Walden and Rev. Greg Tipton officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Strickland was born October 3, 1925 in Pelham, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late John J. and Sula Hester Floyd. She was a member of Cornerstone Church of God and was a seamstress for Southern Overall. She was also a homemaker with a servant's heart and loved people and cooking. She was a woman of faith who loved God. She always was glad you came for a visit and a home cooked meal. We miss you and we are thankful God shared you with us for a while. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Marvin Strickland, her son, Kenneth Strickland, her daughter, LaFaye Tyler and her grandson Steven Simmons.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Marion and husband Charles, Debbie Obert and husband Robby all of Phenix City, AL, three brothers, Nathan Floyd and wife Virginia of Calhoun, GA, Darius Floyd and wife Virginia of Blanton Grove, GA, David Floyd of Albany, GA, sister, Mary Walden of Moultrie, GA, sister-in-law, Elisabeth Harrell of Americus, GA, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family would like to express a special "thank you" to the staff of Parkwood Nursing home for their love and care.
