Our precious mother fell asleep in death today, April 29, 2020. A private Memorial service will be arranged. Our family wishes to thank the staff of Phenix City Healthcare and Columbus Hospice for all the
compassionate care given to our mother.
Dorothy “Jean” Jones was born November 13, 1935, to Paul S. and Vivian Dawkins Jones, in Lafayette,
Alabama. She was one of seven Jones children who lived in Andalusia, Alabama, and then the Jones family moved to Columbus, Georgia.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne Kinser, Sr.; her parents; and three of her siblings, Paul, Jr., Frank, and Ginger.
Jean is survived by her five children, Kathryn Fargo (Randy) of Grayson, Georgia; Carolyn Kinser of Phenix City, Alabama; Sharon Jensen (Tim) of Smiths Station, Alabama; Donald Kinser, Jr. of Midland, Georgia; and Daniel Kinser (Beverly) of Salem, Alabama. Survivors also include three of her siblings, Marie Wrigley of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Ralph Jones of Zebulon, Georgia, and Lawrence Jones of Cataula, Georgia; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and many loyal friends in her spiritual family.
Jean graduated from Jordan High School in 1956. She began working secularly as a teenager, and, due to extraordinary circumstances, at the age of 17, she began providing for her own financial needs. Through that time period, she showed beautiful faith and strength of character.
Jean met her sweetheart, Don Kinser, while in high school. Don studied the Bible with Jean and she was
thrilled to learn about the only true God, and his Son, Jesus Christ. This knowledge means everlasting life for those who exercise faith in the ransom sacrifice of Christ Jesus. (John 3:16; 17:3; Matthew 20:28) Jean embraced Bible truth, dedicated her life to Jehovah God, and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on December 4,1953.
For four years Don had the privilege of serving as a Christian volunteer at the world headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brooklyn, New York. He returned to Columbus, Georgia in 1957, and married his devoted Jean, who had waited for his return. They began their family two years later, and joyfully welcomed the birth of each of their five children, Kathryn Charissa, Carolyn Patricia, Sharon Leigh, Donald Wayne, Jr. (Donny), and Daniel Ethan (Danny).
Mama and Daddy gave us, their children, a life of nurturing and spiritual values. They made it their priority to teach us to love our Creator, Jehovah God, and live by his righteous standards as taught in his Word, the Bible. Mama and Daddy set the example for us to be faithful proclaimers of God's Messianic Kingdom with Jesus Christ as the King. We came to understand it is God's heavenly Kingdom that will end all war, sickness, pain, and death forever! Earth will be a beautiful Paradise as our loving Creator originally purposed. (Genesis 1:28; Psalms 37:11,29; Matthew 6:9,10; Revelation 21:1-5)
Jean spent many years as a zealous regular pioneer in the Phenix City Central (now West) Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, with her delightful pioneer partner, Peggy Fiquett, and many other dear friends.
Together they had the joy of teaching wonderful Bible truths to others in the community.
In later years, Parkinson’s, which led to a host of other health complications, took our Mama’s life. We know that she continued to rely on Jehovah God as her Refuge, though she was unable to speak at the end. Mama was a woman of faith, compassion, and had a smile and twinkle in her joyful light green eyes that will never be forgotten. We, her children, long to welcome our dear mother and father back in the resurrection when earth is a Paradise and they will never suffer again. (John 5:28,29; Isaiah 33:24)
