SSG Douglas Kristopher Briggs, 42 of Smiths Station, AL passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. EST Monday, November 20, 2017 in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Briggs was born September 15, 1975 in Magee, MS; son of Larry Briggs and Deborah Kemp Osborne. He has served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Patrick Osborne and father-in-law, Jack Terry.
Survivors include his wife, Michele Briggs of Smiths Station, AL, mother, Deborah Osborne of Longview, TX, father, Larry Briggs of Sulphur Springs, TX, daughters, Valerie and Dani Hentschel of Opelika, AL, two step-sons, Ryan Dutton and Tyler Bankston both of Smiths Station, AL, brother, Kevin Briggs, sister, Stacy Doyle and husband, Walter and nephew, Zackary Mount all of Longview, TX; grandmother, Sadie Kemp, uncle, Billy Kemp and wife Pam, of Magee, MS and many close friends.
