Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, Mr. Pearcy served his nation proudly for 20 years in the United States Army, including two tours in Vietnam, until his retirement from the military in 1982. Ever the loving father and loyal son, he devoted the last 20 years of his life as the primary caregiver to his aging mother until illness no longer allowed him to do so. He will be most remembered for his unrelenting faith in the Lord, his easygoing affable manner, and his kind, generous spirit. His children and family were blessed and honored to have the privilege of caring for him during his final months of life, and will be forever grateful for this precious gift of time with their father and grandfather.
Mr. Pearcy is survived by his daughter, Debra A. Church of Houston, TX, his two sons and their wives, Gary E. and Laurie Pearcy of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Mike and Deanie Pearcy of Phenix City, AL; his eight grandchildren – Jonathan Church, Clint Thornton and wife Sarah, Spencer Church, Emily Heiser, Cody Pearcy, Casey Pearcy, Mason Church, and Kyle Pearcy; and two great-grandchildren, Cameran and Caden Thornton.
He is also survived by his beloved mother, Gertrude M. Pearcy of Nashville; two sisters, Peggy L. Hegi of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Charlotte Snider of Nashville, TN; and brother and his wife, Louis and Judith Pearcy of Charleston, WV. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Edward A. Pearcy, Sr., and brother, Richard D. Pearcy.
At Mr. Pearcy’s request, a private military memorial service will be held for immediate family only at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery on Thursday, December 1st. Friends may visit the family afterwards at the home of Mike and Deanie Pearcy.
