Mrs. Elkins is also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James Bradford Elkins and a daughter, Connie Louise Harrington.
As a wife and mother, Mrs. Louise was able to enjoy life as a military souse and also visit several states to visit her daughter whose husband was also in the military. She was quite proud of herself by going to Alaska, Arizona and California.
Mrs. Louise worked for over thirty years for Tom's Foods in Columbus, Georgia, packaging peanuts and other snack items. She retired in 1994, and along with her spouse, moved to Salem, Alabama to enjoy a slower lifestyle.
On any particular day, you might drive by and see her riding her mower, raking leaves, or burning limbs. Louise took pride in keeping a nice yard and a neat home.
She also took great care of her great grandbabies.
Mrs. Louise loved her family and always spoke fondly of each one. If you were to hear names such as, (Little Bud, Pee Wee, Billy, Toy, Pumpkin or Tator) you wouldn't have a clue which person she was referring to, but she knew, and she loved them. She also prayed fervently for them all. Louise lost her husband, James in 1997, and from then, till present she lived lone. She attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Salem as often as she could. Through the assistance of her extended family, she continued to attend family functions and enjoy somewhat of an independence.
If words could describe Ms. Louise, those words would be as follows: fiercely independent, kind, humble, orderly, stubborn and strong willed.
She will be truly missed by everyone who knew her, both by her family and friends.
Mrs. Elkins is survived by her grandsons, James B. Harrington, III and Bill Jim Harrington (Meredith), one great grandson, Paul Harrington and many nieces and nephews.
