George E. Warren, 85 of Phenix City, Alabama died Thursday, October 27, 2016 in Luverne, Alabama. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, according to Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City. The family will receive friends from 9:30A.M. unitl 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
Mr. Warren was born May 14, 1931; son of the late Venice and Sally Dorsey Warren. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from civil service at Fort Benning, GA. Mr. Warren was a member of the NHRA Drag Racing Team and was inducted in to the Old Drag Racing Reunion. His race car was named "Mr. Happy". He loved to race cars, loved to fish and he never met a stranger. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Warren.
Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Burch and husband, William of Fort Mitchell, AL, granddaughters, Kimberly Carr and husband, Eddie Of Smiths Station, AL, Kristi Smith and husband, Nick of Pittsview, AL, great grandchildren, Braxten Carr, Brookelynn Carr, Cameron Smith, Kaleigh Smith, numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
