Gwendolyn B. Hawthorne

Gwendolyn B. Hawthorne, 88 of Smiths Station, Alabama passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. ET Saturday, June 1, 2013 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 280 W, Phenix City, AL with burial to follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Serving as pall bearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hawthorne was born June 27, 1924 in Hartford, Alabama. She is the daughter of the late Christopher and Arizona Kirkland Sasser. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Hawthorne, sons, Phillip Eugene Hundley and Melvin Hundley, four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include her daughters, Gloria Lovelace and husband Jimmy of Smiths Station, AL, Elaine Johnson and husband Ted of Phoenix, AZ, son, Ronnie Hundley and wife Kathy Ann of Smiths Station, AL, daughter-in-law, Dorothy Hundley of Smiths Station, AL, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
