James E Bowers, Jr. , 55, of Smiths Station, Alabama, died Tuesday August 9, 2011 in Columbus, Georgia. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday August 12th in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary , 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867, with the Reverend Jeff Dravenstott officiating. Private interment will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Bowers was born October 31, 1955 in Germany, son of the late James E Bowers, Sr. and Carrie Thomas Bowers. He was formerly employed by Ansco and Associates, graduated class of 1973 from Baker HS, Columbus, Ga. and was Baptist by faith. Other than his parents Mr. Bowers is preceded in death by his stepmother, Joyce Bowers, two stepsisters, Carol and Debbie.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn J Bowers of Smiths Station, sister, Carolyn Brown and husband Carl of Phenix City, step sisters, Renea Majors of Deatsville, AL. and Denise Edmisten of Montgomery, AL., , niece, Sandra Facio, nephew, Greg Holden, step mother, Nettie Bowers and stepsister, Kathy Dennis, sister-in-law, Judy Langlois and husband Randy, his beloved 4 legged children, Misty and Sierra, other relatives and friends.
