Jo Ann Young Dawson

Jo Ann Dawson, 72 of Smiths Station, AL, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010 at her home. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 25, 2010 at 11:30 A.M. EDT at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Pastor Harold Cummings officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL 36867. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dawson was born December 1, 1937 in Opelika, AL , daughter of the late Joe and Gladys Cummings Young. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Smiths, AL. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard S. Dawson, son, Gary Dawson, brother, Howard Young and sister, Betty Holloway.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Lowe and husband Mike of Woodland, AL, Gale Ming of Smiths Station, AL, brothers, Bobby Young and wife Minnie, Johnny Young and wife, Dottie, sisters, Janice Sanders and husband, Bill, Saundra Young, grandchildren, Joseph Ross, Annie Lowe, Jenni Ross, Kathryn Lowe Phillips and husband, Phillip, great grandchildren, Christopher Ross, Clayton Coulter, Amanda Ross and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mrs. Dawson loved and was loved by many.
