John Edgar Fortune, 67 of Pensacola, Florida, formerly of Phenix City, Alabama, died Thursday April 22, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm EDT Sunday April 25th at the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Phenix City Chapel, 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867 with the Reverend Elbert Ward officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Fortune was born May 8, 1942 in Phenix City, son of the late Winslow Fortune and Mary Davis Fortune Campbell. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was retired from civil service. Mr. Fortune was by faith a member of the Assemblies of God.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Fortune of Pensacola, FL. , sons, Danny Fortune of Hapeville, GA., John C. Fortune of East Point, GA., daughter, Darlene Fortune of East Point, GA., brothers, Jimmy and Jerry, sisters, Evelyn and Marie, 3 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
