

Josie Mae "Jo" Carrier, 82 of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Saturday at the Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 11:00 A. M. EDT in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Carrier was born November 6, 1929 in Columbus, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late William and Josephine Sermons Stringfellow. She attended Jordan High School, was a homemaker and baptist by faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, W.R. Stringfellow and L.B. Stringfellow.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years James W. "Jim" Carrier of Phenix City, AL, children, Diane Ward of Phenix City, AL, Paul E. Pottinger and wife, Liz of Columbus, GA, Patricia Neeley of Hiram, GA, two sisters, Bertha L. "Tiny" Fulone and husband John, Rhoda "Baby" Mitchell and husband, Cliff, seven grandchildren, Andy Ward, Scott Ward and wife, Kelly, Danny Redmond, Matthew Neeley, Tracey Ublies and husband Ubie, Melissa Pottinger and fiance', Daniel, Jennifer Harris and husband, Justin, great grandchildren, Amber Spence, Dakota Spence, Cody Ward, Holly Ward, Dillon Ward and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
