Mary Irene Taylor

Mary Irene Carden Taylor, 82 of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Pinehurst Baptist Church in Columbus, GA with Reverend Tony Dickerson officiating. Burial will folow at 12:30pm at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, AL.

Mrs. Taylor was born March 31, 1932 in Hatchechubbee, Alabama; daughter of the late Marshall Bradford Carden, Sr. and Leona Rachel Burton Carden. Mrs. Taylor was a 1948 graduate of Central High School in Phenix City. She was formerly employed as a legal secretary at Fort Benning, Ga for many years, then later was employed as the church secretary for Pinehurst Baptist where she retired with 32 years of service. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Marshall Bardford Carden, Jr. and her sister, Martha Lorene Farrar Gentry.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Wofford Lee Taylor of Phenix City, AL, sons, Ricky Taylor and wife Lynn of Seale, AL, Randy Taylor and wife, Gina of Winterhaven, FL, Rusty Taylor and wife, Sherrie of Phenix City, AL, Ryan Taylor and wife, Carol of Atlanta, GA, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
