Mildred Waldrop Timbes age 80, died peacefully at her home on June 17, 2021. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 20th from 3-5pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Phenix City, Alabama. Service will be Monday, June 21st at 10 am at First Baptist Church Porter Chapel in Columbus, Georgia, Dr. James Elder wAdams and Rick Remily.
Mrs. Timbes is preceded in death by her husband James "Jim" H. Timbes, her parents, Lorena Griggs Waldrop and Mitchell Cully Waldrop and very special aunts Opal Waldrop Mallory and Caroline Griggs West.
Survivors include her daughter, Valorie Adams Harbour (Charles), son, Kevin Frank Adams, (Darline) and special "daughters" Jane Remily and Julie Thomas, a brother Bill Waldrop (Barbara), nieces, Brena Bush, Brandy Hiler, Brooke Rogers, Janie Jenkins and Katie Boswell, nephew Bruce Waldrop and a host of step children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is also survived by the father of her children, Frank Adams (Carol) and many wonderful dear friends.
Mickey was an absolute joy to anyone who knew her and was often described as the " sweetest lady ever". Her main focus was the love and concern for her family and friends. She loved entertaining and raised miniature horses for competition. Mickey and Jim had many wonderful RV trips. She enjoyed all things outdoors, traveling, golfing, water skiing, dancing, gardening and walking. She loved her River Place community and all of the activities and residents. She had the kindest heart and genuinely loved everyone.
She graduated from Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama and remained very close with all of her classmates. She retired from the Phenix City Board of Education and worked as a secretary in several different schools. Mickey was a member of First Baptist Church and loved her Grace Sunday School class. She volunteered through the church for Meals on Wheels and Home Bound Ministries and enjoyed her Young at Heart group there. She was past member of the following organizations: Phenix City Girls Club, Russell County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Russell County Chapter of the American Heart Association, Indian Valley Chapter of the American Business Women's Association, Medical Center Auxiliary, Phenix City Women's Civic Club, United Daughters of the Confederacy, American Miniature Horse Association and the River Cities Model A Ford Club.
The family would like to give special thanks to caregivers, Stacy Forbes, Lily Wing, Lauri Odom, Heather Wing, Meagan Whitehead and Khyra Smalley and the wonderful staff at Columbus Hospice.
