Caroline & Paul & water = water moccasin's I don't know what there is about  that combination. True I was with Paul on water only 3 times. The first was in the early 60's I was taking my first vacation visiting family in Florida. Paul and Marynelle were still living in St Pete. I liked the idea of Paul teaching me to water ski as I had never been on skis before. We practiced a few times and then decided to go around the lake. That is when Paul  cautioned me to make sure I didn't fall off in one area as there were water moccasins. As you can imagine I held on for dear life.  Thanks big brother for the ski lesson :-).  The second time was in 2011 on the Weeki Wachee River. A bunch of us took a canoe trip leaving from Marynelles sister Marthas home.  Not being experienced I was in the same canoe as Paul.  Not to long in the trip Paul said we needed to aim toward the other side of the river as there was a water moccasin in the tree over hanging the river. Who knew snakes could climb trees?  The last time I was with Paul on water was at their river home in Alabama miracles of miracles no snakes of any kind. So glad you were my brother, challenging me to try new things.   love ya

 Words cannot describe the loss of a great man, friend, and father. Paul was always loving and welcoming  and will be missed dearly.  He will  live on in our hearts and memories, and through his children and grandchildren. RIP Paul ❤️

I always enjoyed being around Paul. He was a happy person. He loved to talk about interesting things. He seemed to be informed on any question I asked him. His most important subject was his antique cars. This was a real love for him. I will never forget riding in the rumble seat of his old car. It was so much fun. Every time I visited with him I would go away feeling like I really had a good time.

So many good times back in Columbus, GA as a little kid playing outside. I never got in trouble either!  Thanks for the great memories Mr. Singer. 

I was proud to share the love of antique autos with Paul for the past 11 years. Paul was a dedicated member of our club, the River Cities Model A Ford Club, serving as Vice President, President and Tour Director. Paul was also a Patriot serving our nation in the United States Coast Guard. He was a dedicated family man sharing his life with Mary Nelle for over 62 years and very dedicated to his family. He lived a life of service to others by helping those fellow club members to keep their classic cars on the road and while doing this not bringing any attention to himself. When I contacted members and past members about his passing they all shared with me the many times that he helped them to keep their cars and my car on the road. We will greatly miss this extraordinary man and we are so blessed to have known him and shared with him his passion of our beloved Model A Ford. To Mary Nelle, to his family and his friends it is my hope that the great memories will give you comfort. Paul will be deeply missed, but we will always remember and cherish his friendship.

I've had the privilege of knowing Paul since I was 3 years old. I'm about to turn 60.  He was known to me as Uncle Paul.  My Dad and Paul were best friend, which made my life full of fun and adventure. Paul was fun, curious, and always adventurous. He loved to take us to unknown places.  Growing up, we vacationed every year with Paul and his family. Sandy and Phyllis were my best friends, and still are to this day.  I always looked forward to coming to a road less traveled and Paul would say, lets see whats down this road.  We never knew what we were going to discover, which was the best part. He also loved kids.  Whether his own kids, grand kids, or any other kids, he seemed to be drawn to them and they to him. When we would camp years later as his children and I had  our own kids, he would line them all up and take them on adventure walks. It was something I enjoyed growing up with him and my dad, and my children got to experience the same joy. 
Paul was kind and full of wisdom.  In his laid back kind of way, he would speak gently but with power. he knew how to fix any thing, and gave the best advise with grace, never a "know it all" even though he did. The world was a better place because of Paul.  He's now in a better place because of Jesus.  I look forward to seeing him and my Dad telling jokes and just having fun again one day when I join them.

Knowing Paul over the years has been a real blessing. His smile and enthusiasm for the club and the preservation of the history and beauty of the Model A was a true inspiration. Paul was skillful at organizing tours of interest for us to travel in our beloved cars. I cherish the many memories of those tours we went on. One such memory was how he, while we were on the Blue Ridge Parkway tour in 2013, instructed me on changing the Pheonix's oil. We were on the second day of the trip. He asked me when I'd changed my oil last. I honestly told him I had never done that. He seized the opportunity to instruct me on the task. We got the oil and a depository for the used oil at the local Auto Store. In that parking lot he directed me on what to do; letting me learn by experience. I think he got as much joy out of helping me learn as I had learning myself. Many times later he would encourage me to learn more about the Pheonix maintenance. I cherish these memories and consider myself so blessed to have known Paul Singer. 

To Mary Nelle and family, I wish you peace and comfort in the coming days. As for myself I will ponder in my heart , rather than be saddened in his passing , I will be joyful in having known him.



I met Paul in St. Petersburg, FL when he and Mary Nell came  from Georgia to attend our wedding in November, 1977.
I remember Paul was a warm and loving man, a loyal friend of Bert and Rosemary. 
I heard stories of how they became friends when the Singers lived in the same neighborhood and bowled together in a local bowling alley....and how Paul would come get Bert  on the weekend to join him in a "trash and treasure hunt" at the local city dumb. This I learned was much to Rosemary's annoyance - she "had better things for him to do, like work in the yard (which was not Bert's thing at all). 
I then got to know him better at the annual multifamily gatherings each August at Alexander Springs state park (Ocala, Florida) with my wife Holly.
Paul and Doyle, as I remember it, were the one's who orchestrated the best ever catfish fry!!
Paul was always the most resourceful, knowledgeable and creative person - if something needed to fixed or found, Paul could find a way to get it done.
As our relationship grew over the years I observed how Paul always  took time to teach and share his knowledge with his friends and family, especially with the younger children around him. ( They all loved him and it was obvious to me that he loved them).
To sum up the attributes of Paul that I observed over the 41 years I knew him: Paul was a man who exemplified love. One who was surely a man who set an example to be followed, and a man after God's own heart.

Paul Singer was the father of one of the kindest friends I have ever had. 

He worked hard to provide for his family, and the fruit of his life has been his dear wife and children and the goodness he has shown to so many. 

May the dear Lord comfort and encourage all of those whom he leaves behind.

I clearly remember the day my brother Paul was born.  It was getting towards evening, and my father was at the barn milking the cows.  My mother was in the bedroom having a baby, who turned out to be my only brother, Paul.  He was special from the day he was born.  Our dad could not believe he had a son after having three girls in a row.  He thought they were fooling him, so he left his milking to come and see for himself.  Sure enough, it was a boy and Paul has been an amazing boy and brother for his entire life.

 Each of us from time to time, have met someone who almost immediately became a close friend.  That was my relationship with Paul.  We met several years ago and discovered right away that  we, although different in some respects, had two very important traits.  We loved old cars and back roads.  Many is the time that all it took for us to be on a back road was a phone call or drop by.  Among many tales I could tell you , there are two that I will share .  First please realize that we both were "incessant talkers..."  Several years ago in search of a small country crossroads called "Little Texas," we were to travel U.S. 80w to a blinking amber signal light, then turn left on a County road.  As usual, were busy talking.  Finally when we realized were were almost in Tuskegee, we knew we were wrong and turned around.  Guess what, in about three miles, Lo and Behold - the blinking lite.  That flub-dub was good for sharing and many laughs  among our Model A friends.         Another time we were traveling a road we had  traveled before to place yellow streamers for an  upcoming Club tour, and we knew one of the markers was to be left at a left turn of an intersection where a small herd of Long Horn cattle were in a pasture.  Arriving at this intersection and "gabbing" as usual, Paul TURNED RIGHT.  I chose to say nothing  and about a mile down the wrong road, Paul said "this is not right."  I said, laughing loudly, "Yes you made a right instead of a left turn...   You see, very early in our friendship we had discovered that we agreed on the phrase, "If you are rambling, you are not lost."  God has chosen to take our friend  to a a better place with no suffering, and I assure you Paul is now rambling around Heaven...

Paul always had a smile and would give you the shirt off his back.  If you needed help, he was the first one there.  I remember visiting him and Mary Nelle at their home and they made you feel very welcome.  He was a fun person and I loved his stories.  He will be missed.

The Lamberts will miss our Uncle Paul. He was a great family man, a man of great conviction, and unmatched work ethic. There was nothing on this planet he couldn't build or fix. My greatest  memories we're listening to Uncle Paul tell stories and talk shop... He was reserved but when he spoke 
his booming voice rang over everyone's with volume and knowledge. When he spoke everyone stopped... Everyone listened... Everyone loved Paul Singer...

I have known Paul all my life, literally.  I will miss his ready laugh and warm smiles.  Rest in peace, my cousin and friend.  

Through your deeds, those you loved, and those you inspired, the world is a better place. Rest peacefully. 

My Uncle Paul was a rare jewel. Just speaking his name brings a smile to my face. He was kind, generous (with his time, talents and anything in between) and an all around FUN individual. I remember growing up that it was always a treat to have Uncle Paul in the mix! One occasion I will always remember was a trip to Cashiers, NC when I was a teenager. Riding through those mountains with Uncle Paul behind the wheel was a thrilling, scary adventure.  With the kids in the back, both screaming and laughing on every curve, as he squealed those wheels we had the ride of our life and Paul enjoyed every minute. He had more fun than we did laughing at us as we screamed and hid our faces. I guess we were safe - now that I'm all grown up I wonder?? I know we made it back to the cabin safe and was ready to do it all over again. Family gatherings won't quite be the same now, but the memories will last a lifetime.  Uncle Paul will truly be missed.  I loved him dearly and I am glad for the impact he had on my life. I wish everyone could have an Uncle Paul in their life.  He will be missed. 😢

How do I even begin... Growing up across the street from the Singer's has given me a lifetime of wonderful memories. I can remember Mr. Singer "allowing" us to clean his car and we could keep all the money we could find, haha. My family went camping with them as well, what a fun adventure. Mr. Singer was a kind and generous man who I can remember always busy fixing or building something. He will be sadly missed and I will pray for comfort with all the Singer's during this time.

Paul was great man! Always loved being around him.  Certainly will miss the Thanksgivings together and the fun of boat rides and the stories he would tell. Prayers for you and the family.  Thomas and Gerald Casson

Most of my visits with Paul were at Christmas time and other visits to Columbus to see his son, Scott (my son in law).  We would talk of events and other things including his antique cars and my flying.  It was always a pleasant time together albeit short.   From the conversations, it was evident that he loved his children and grand children very much.   He was always ready and willing to assist in anyway he could.  He will be missed.

The Singers lived two houses down from us and our back yards kinda run together with the woods and the house in between.  We grew up  playing ball and various games in that space.  To me the Singers where like an extension of my own family. I saw Mr.  Singer as a father figure and Mrs Singer as a mother figure.  You could have nothing but respect for them. Mr.  Singer always had a word of encouragement or even a word of disapproval if needed.  He taught me how to be fair how to drive a four on the floor and how to have a good work habit. He was always teaching and always there to lend a hand or words of wisdom. He looked out for all us kids and I believe I’m a better person because of him. Rest in peace my friend.

I only know Mr. Singers’ son Scott. 

But what I can tell you about Mr. Singer is he raised a good son.  He taught Scott to be a loving man. A man with a good head on his shoulder and a big heart.

The son is a reflection of the father.

Mr. Paul Singer you must have been a great man.

Mr. Singer was a wonderful teacher.  Patient and kind. Enjoyed learning about rebuilding old cars. He taught life values through his actions. 

Mr. Singer was our neighbor. He was a wonderful man and loved to work on things and when he got stumped on a project he would call for help. We are going to miss those calls from him.

I worked with Paul many years ago and enjoyed the fellowship each time I visited him in Columbus. He introduced me to several popular lunch spots and we compared notes over several years. He was the consummate Southern gentleman and I always had the highest regards for Paul. May God bless his family and friends in this time of sorrow and all the days ahead.
