Richard “Dickie” Hattaway, 60, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away on August 14th, 2023, in Houston, Texas during his courageous battle with leukemia. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Striffler Hamby, Phenix City, with Chaplain Donald Hall, of the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, officiating.
Richard was born on April 8th, 1963, to the late John Frank Hattaway Sr. and Sarah Price Head at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He attended Central High School and Columbus Technical College, where he received his Automotive Body Technician Certification. He was a loyal servant to the citizens of Columbus, Georgia and retired from the Department of Public Works after 40 years of dedicated service.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Michael Hattaway, a nephew, Allan Hattaway and a niece, April Hattaway.
Richard is survived by his three brothers, John Hattaway Jr., Steve Hattaway, and Wayne Hattaway along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Richard had a passion for spending time with family and friends with a love for grilling, fishing, NASCAR racing, and spending time outdoors. He was a loving, selfless individual who would not hesitate to help anyone in need.
