Robert Lee Dees, Sr., age 90, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026. He was born on August 17, 1935, in Troy, Alabama, and spent the majority of his life in Phenix City, where he built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Kathleen Gresham and Charlie Dees; his brother, David Gresham; and his daughter, Patrissa Black.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth Lynne Dees, along with his loving children: Sherill Frank (Charles Frank), Mary Brown (Frankie Brown), Robbie Anderson (John Law), Kathy Godwin, Tammy Waltmon (Billy Waltmon), Lori Edwards (Ray Edwards), Tracy Pullen (Chris Pullen), Robert “Pete” Dees Jr., Phillip “Jerry” Durrance (Michael Chandler), Teri Dees, and Jerry Anderson. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the joy of his life.
Robert retired from Swift Textiles after many years of dedicated service. He was a faithful member of Bush Road Church. He found happiness in the simple things — tending to his garden, fishing, camping at Goat Rock, dancing, and especially playing in the yard with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for as long as he was able.
He was known for his humor and memorable sayings, often reminding those around him, “If you got a dollar, you ain’t broke,” and “Don’t say goodbye — it’s forever. It’s see you later.”
Robert’s legacy of love, laughter, faith, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2026 from 10:00 am until 11:0 0am EST in Lakewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby in Phenix City, followed by and 11:00 graveside service at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
