

Steven Dale McFarland, 35, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 at Midtown Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Service is scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2015 at 12:30 PM in the Lakewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby with Reverend Mike Koger officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM in the Lakewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 3770 HWY 431, Phenix City, Alabama. Serving as pallbearers are John McFarland, Eric McFarland, Brian McFarland, Chris McFarland, Jeff McFarland, Mark Chapman and honorary pallbearers Martha Robinson and Daniel Williamson. The family request attendees wear orange and blue, if you choose, as Steven was an avid Auburn fan.
Steven, son of Johnny Dale McFarland of Columbus and Birgit Else Bartsch McDaniel (stepfather Phil) of Midland, was born in Columbus, Georgia. He was a graduate of Kendrick High School. Growing up Steven played baseball, he was in chorus in high school and was a member of the quartet. Steven graduated Columbus Technical College and started work at The Hughston Clinic as an Information Technologist since 2001. In July 1999, Jennifer and Steven met for the first time at Callaway Gardens. It was love at first sight, they were also each other’s first love. They married in 2003. In 2013 they welcomed their sweet son, Grayson into the world. Steven and his wife, Jennifer, are members of Crawford United Methodist Church and loved the Lord. Steven was also loved by many. He was a huge Auburn fan, quiet but hilarious, and loved spending time with family and friends.
Steven is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Hans Bartsch and paternal grandmother Lieselotte McFarland. Survivors include his beloved wife of 12 years, Jennifer Lynn McFarland of Phenix City; his precious son Grayson Hudson McFarland; dogs Bella and Buddy; his parents; his brothers John Donald McFarland (Rebecca) of Bethlehem, GA and Eric Douglas McFarland (Casey) of Columbus; father-in-law Ricky Leon Hudson and mother-in-law Lynn Jones Hudson of Phenix City; paternal grandfather Donald Eugene McFarland of Columbus; maternal grandmother Helga Bartsch; numerous aunts, uncles and nephews and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crawford United Methodist Church or CB&T Special Fund in Steven’s name.
