Will T. Chambers

Will T. Chambers, 83 of Smiths Station, AL passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 14, 2011 at 11;00 A.M. in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL with Rev. Jimmie Hobbs officiating. A private entombment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00am until 11:00am at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mr. Chambers was born April 6, 1929 in Sylvester, Georgia, son of the late Herbert C. and Mattie Veasey Chambers. He was retired from Swift Textile after 28 years of service and was the owner of Columbus Heating and Air. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Tanner Chambers, daughter, Shelia Pate, great grandson, R.J. Davis, two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his son, Fred Chambers and wife Joanne of Phenix City, AL, daughters, Toni Darlene Sowell of San Diego, CA, brother, Grady Chambers and wife Clara of Columbus, GA, sisters, Betty Weaver and JoAnn Groce and husband Gene all of Columbus, GA, brother-in-law, Bobby Gene Tanner and wife, Nancy of Panama City, FL, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Rd., Columbus, GA 31909.
