Billy was born November 11, 1935 in Lee County, AL to Mary Frances Lee and Floyd E. Brown. He was married to the love of his life, Barbara. Billy was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He lived life to the fullest instilling values of life and the love of God onto his children and grandchildren. His competitive nature could be seen in his work ethics and his strive for his family to do well in life. Billy loved to hunt, fish, water ski, and travel, as well as relaxing and enjoying his family and friends at their cabin on Lake Harding. He was an avid Alabama football fan- "Roll Tide, Touchdown, Alabama!" Billy was Baptist by faith and enjoyed attending church with his family at Smith Station Baptist. He was and will always be the patriarch of the Brown family who leaves his loving memory to be cherished by all who knew and especially loved him.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara Brown; daughter, Donna Barber (Richard); grandchildren, Brooke (Mike) Sandok, Christin (Bobby) Donahoo, Chadd Barber, Amanda Barber, Kenny Barber, and Kyle Barber; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Dylan, Kirkland, Roman, Kaylee, Tyler, and Noah; brothers, Jimmy, Bobby, Richard and Floyd; and sisters, Shirley, Dot, Peggy, and Linda; and special nieces and nephews, Ricky Dunn (Charlotte) and Barry Dunn (Beth). Billy also had many loving friends; other family members and work buddies to cherish his memory.
Billy was preceded in death by son, William H. "Billy" Brown, Jr. (Patricia); father, Floyd E. Brown and mother, Mary Frances Lee; and brother-in-law and best friend, Calvin Slappey.
A visitation for family and friends of Billy will be held Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:00 AM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Hwy 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama 36867.
